Host Families

Laconia Muskrats Host Families

Host Families are the most critical component of the Muskrats operation. Without local residents opening their homes to our players we could not support a team. Being a host family gives you the opportunity to form a lasting bond with a potential Major Leaguer and show an outsider the community spirit of the Lakes Region.

What it entails: A spare room with a bed, access to laundry facilities, and occasional meals (mostly breakfast) for the players.

What you get: Free season tickets for your entire household, free admission to all other NECBL venues, discounts on Muskrat merchandise, access to special preseason events, participation in our Parent’s Weekend festivities, and to help a player get one step closer to his goal of playing professional baseball.

Testimonials from host families

“My family decided to be a host family for two Muskrats. We have never done anything like this in the past and we were nervously excited doing this. To our pleasant surprise we got two of the most polite and respectful young men we have ever met. These two young men came into our home and fit right in like we had known them for years. We have had a great time getting to know the players and watching them play. It will be a very difficult day to watch our new “sons” and their teammates depart but look forward to a lasting relationship with both young men. Thanks for the opportunity to be a helping hand in these young men’s journeys.” -Mark & Tricia Roy from Laconia

“We gained another member of the family the day Jimmy arrived at our home. All my kids got along great and when Jimmy wasn’t playing they all hung out together. These are memories that my three children will hold onto for many years to come. We housed 1 player but were blessed with ten regulars that visited often during the summer. We did not treat Jimmy as a future big leaguer but as another son.” -Bob & Suzy Martin from Laconia

“At first we were nervous about having a stranger living in our house. That feeling faded quickly as Pat readily became part of our family. Our two young daughters adored “our player” and will be heartbroken when he leaves at summer’s end. We have also enjoyed meeting and getting to know the other host families from all over the Lakes Region.” Josh & Alicia DeLuca from Laconia
